Factory automation (or industrial automation) is to interconnect factory equipment to improve the efficiency and reliability of the process control system. This in turn will reduce costs, improve quality, increase flexibility, and reduce environmental impact. In order to realize Industry 4.0, the IO-Link communication network (IEC 61131-9) can be used for two-way point-to-point data connection (up to the actuator and sensor level), supporting data preprocessing, sensor parameter adjustment and advanced diagnosis.
