Medical Instruments

Medical equipment used for treatment and diagnosis is usually a complex electromechanical system controlled by a computer. These systems rely on advanced semiconductor technology and components to provide healthcare services in hospitals, doctor's offices, and homes. In addition to being able to measure vital signs and other parameters, today's medical and healthcare equipment must be able to provide the high power required for magnetic resonance imaging or generate precise high-voltage high-frequency pulses in ultrasound equipment. To help developers meet these challenges, ST provides a wide range of semiconductor products-including ultra-low power STM32 microcontrollers, high-performance application-specific analog products and wireless connectivity solutions. With our vast and differentiated semiconductor technology portfolio, we can help developers build affordable and innovative healthcare solutions.

Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is used to keep the alveoli open and prevent the alveoli from collapsing completely during the expiratory phase, thereby helping the patient to breathe. The most important aspect of the CPAP system is the need to adjust the airflow control to compensate for height, mask movement and leakage, as well as features such as heating, humidification, and airway respiratory support.
